Training
Training for Members, Clients and Personal Assistant Employers is imperative
to a successful working relationship. Initially,
CILK will link into established training courses. For example: A Personal
Development Course was held for 16 people, with trainers from Southampton
Centre for Independent Living.
Although training will be focused mainly at individuals seeking training around
Independent living, CILK believe that training should also be available for
individuals, organisations, business sector etc.
A range of training is available from: Personal Development, Mentoring, Disability
Equality Training, Social Model Training Workshops, Employing Personal Assistants,
Training for potential and existing personal assistants (training for
PAs will aim to give participants an understanding of: disability from an
equalities perspective, Independent Living principles, the role of a PA, how
the local service or scheme works, moving and assisting safely).
