Following a spinal cord injury resulting from a road traffic accident in 1986 Phil became C5/6 quadriplegic and a full time wheelchair user. Quickly realising that the built environment around him really prohibited people with disabilities from leading a full and productive life within their local community; together with his wife Kay, a life of campaigning ensued.
Phil has worked within the voluntary sector for over 20 years, working as a disability consultant with both local and county councils on many projects. He has been both Treasurer and Chair of Tonbridge & Malling Access group.
Phil has nearly 30 years experience as a disabled person in Kent.
His passions include World travel, astronomy, genealogy and World history.
He is an award winning Archer and Chairperson of the Centre of Excellence for Disability Archery Kent.
