Personal Profile – Marian Khamo,
Manager
Hello everyone – my name is Marian Khamo. I am married, have one
son aged 21 and, prior to becoming a parent, worked in the private sector
for 17 years.
In 1998 I returned to work – this time in the
voluntary sector where I worked for a Charity whose main role was to
give information and sign-posting to people with impairments and their
families.
I would like to say how privileged I feel to have
been given the opportunity to be the first CILK Mobile Manager. I am
sure this innovative idea of taking the mobile Centre for Independent
Living Kent around the county and delivering enabling independent living
services direct to disabled people is the way forward. With the full
support of the Directors I will do my best to ensure that I reach as
many people as possible and that disabled people are empowered to lead
full, active and productive lives.
Personal Profile – Donna
Francis, Clerical Support Officer

Hello my name is Donna Francis. I am 23 and have
recently completed a degree in Health Studies and Social Science at
Christ Church University in Canterbury. For my dissertation I looked
at health promotion and physical impairments. I found that those with
physical impairments are on the whole left out of health promotion literature,
something that I believe should change. I am also in the process of
writing a paper, which I hope, will be accepted in to the Health Education
Journal.
I am very excited to have got the job as Clerical
Support Officer for CILK. I am very interested in working with disabled
people as I have an impairment myself.
For the past four years I have worked at Sainsbury’s
as a Customer Service Assistant and have had direct contact with the
general public. I am a people person and love spending time with family
and friends. I am a member of the youth team at my local Church and
have been involved with the children’s work since the age of eleven,
which I thoroughly enjoy.
I am looking forward to working for CILK and meeting
new people.
